Me...Catherine

Creating a blog is such an exciting and unexpected turn of events! For many years and against much polite nagging from friends and family, I had steadfastly refused to enter the world of social media. However, an eventual caving to pressure was imminent so I chose Instagram. A platform where you can look at beautiful pictures of beautiful places. This was just over a year ago. Since then I have been lucky enough to form wonderful connections and friendships, with people who have like minded interests. Those being nature, bushwalking, photography and travel. During this time I have been teaching myself photography. I am not sure whether I can label myself as a photographer just yet. I am more of a moment catcher. It is these moments that I want to share with you. It is the moments in other peoples lives that I really enjoy looking at, and hopefully you will feel the same with my blog.

There was never a second thought that my blog was going to be primarily focused on the natural environment, as that is where I spend every spare second I have! Admittedly, with a little man-made presence here and there as well. I mean, who can go past an old timber jetty, a rustic old bridge or some ocean baths with the waves spilling over into them? As far as finding new and beautiful environments to explore is concerned, Instagram has been my go to travel guide. I love that I have been able to help other people in this regard too. With my little, gypsy like, travel ready feet I am always off somewhere or other. I am hoping my blog will build on Instagram's sharing of experiences and advice on places to visit.

I was lucky enough to be raised in a family where being outside, active and immersed in the gifts of nature was the norm. That is where I gratefully, still am in life. Hence the name Trees and Sea... In the coming months expect lots of coastal destinations, bush expeditions and waterfall chasing after any rain. It may be happening in my amazing hometown of Newcastle, there is a fairly certain chance that Australia's other states and territories will have me trotting across them and fingers crossed for some overseas travel too. Either way, the travels will be within Mother Nature, and I can't wait to share her with you!
